Seven professors from Harvard University, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign,and University of MasaryKova, Czech Republic visited the College of Education, Zhejiang University from Oct. 25th to Oct.27th , 2011.
During their stay in Hangzhou, the professors gave five lectures for faculty and students from the Department of Physical Education. At the same time, the professors discussed future cooperation on research and exchange program between students and faculty.
On Oct. 25th, the Executive Vice-Dean of the College of Education, Professor Xiaozhou Xu welcomed the professors and briefly introduced the structures, the development of students and the international exchange programs in our college, and discussed some issues concerning the development of physical education in primary and middle schools in China. Professor Xiaomei Lin, Director of the Department of Physical Education and vice Director Dr. Lijun Zhou and other professors attended the meeting.
In the afternoon of Oct. 25th, Dr. Lusk from the Harvard School of Public Health gave a lecture about “Bicycling and public health: An exploration of urban design issues to increase bicycling”, and then Dr. Weimo Zhu from the Department of Kinesiology & Community Health,University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign gave a lecture about “Labor Saving: Have we gone too far?”
The next day Professor Coach Hughes from the University of MasaryKova gave a lecture titled“Effective training for cycling.” Dr. Jiri Nykodym, Dean of College of Sports Studies, University of MasaryKova introduced the College of Sports Studies. Students from the Department of Physical Education had an active discussion with the professors..
The students and faculty from the Department of Physical Education learned much through these academic lectures. These activites provided opportunities for the Department to expand internationally.
