The UNESCO-APEID Meeting on Entrepreneurship Education was Successfully Held at Zhejiang University

     Co-organized by UNESCO Asia and the Pacific Regional Bureau for Education, Zhejiang University, the CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee, the Hangzhou Municipal Government and Alibaba Cloud Computing, the UNESCO-APEID Meeting on Entrepreneurship Education was successfully held in Hangzhou. About 100 participants from UNESCO, the World Bank, ILO and 10 countries participated in the meeting

    Chaired by Prof. Xu Xiaozhou, Chairholder of the UNESCO Chair in Entrepreneurship Education at Zhejiang University, and the Dean of the College of Education, Zhejiang University, Mr. Li Kejia, Deputy Secretary General of the CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee, Ms. Zhou Guping, Deputy President of Zhejiang University, Mr. Du Yue, Secretary General of the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, and Mr. Gwang-Jo Kim, Director of UNESCO Bangkok Office and the UNESCO Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education delivered welcome addresses respectively at the ceremony of the meeting.

    During the meeting, Prof. Wang Zhongming, Director of the Global Entrepreneurship Research Center (GERC) of Zhejiang University made the keynote speech titled “Entrepreneurship Education Models and Entrepreneurial Competence Development Strategy”. The participants presented and exchanged ideas and practices focused on the sub-themes of “Government Policies on Entrepreneurship Education”, “Innovative Approaches and Practices of Entrepreneurship Education in Universities and Schools” and “Enabling Entrepreneurship Education”

    At the closing session, Prof. Wang Libing, Director of the UNESCO-APEID Associated Centre, Zhejiang University gave the summary report. Prof. Ren Shaobo, Vice President of Zhejiang University, Ms. Mae Chu Chang, Head, Human Development Sector, World Bank, Indonesia, and Mr. Gwang-Jo Kim gave the closing addresses.

    As a follow-up to the 15th UNESCO-APEID International Conference, Inspiring Education: Creativity and Entrepreneurship, held in December 2011 in Jakarta and adding to the outcomes of The Third International Congress on Technical and Vocational Education and Training held in May 2012 in Shanghai, the meeting provided a dialogue platform for the representatives from international organizations, national governments, HEIs and enterprises to come up with new policy initiatives and for innovative practices to be shared among countries in Asia and the Pacific region.
